Mary’s Place
Mary’s Place is one of the most iconic and popular dive sites in Roatán, Honduras. It’s especially famous among divers for its dramatic underwater topography and excellent visibility.
Key Features of Mary’s Place:
Wall and crevice diving: The site is known for a deep crevice or crack in the reef that you can swim through — it’s like diving between two walls. This crevice was formed by volcanic activity and is partially lit from above, creating a stunning play of light.
Depth: Ranges from about 30 to 110 feet (10–33 meters), suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
Marine life: You can often see sea fans, black coral, barrel sponges, and a variety of reef fish like angelfish, parrotfish, and sometimes moray eels or seahorses tucked into the coral.
Location: It’s located on the south shore of Roatán, near French Harbour, Barefoot Cay and Coco View Resort.
Because of its unique formation and beauty, Mary’s Place is typically done as a guided dive with strict buoyancy control to avoid damaging the walls.
